CHARACTERISTICS OF LV SWITCHGEAR

LV distribution switchgear are intended for distribution of electric power and management of electromotor plants and processes in industry on low-voltage level. They are produced for power of up to 3200A and short circuit power Icw of up to 60 kA/1s, and type tested for power of 2000A inclusive.  For rated current of up to 4000A and Icw above 60 kA distributive cabinets and assembled according to typified configurations (as by ABB Striebel & John license) they have a status of type attested cabinets, with a short circuit current of up to 100kA.

Construction is composed of perforated bended profiles made of pickled steel sheet thick up to 2,5 mm, interconnected by welding or mounting technology of construction profiles and angular casting, as by Striebel & John license. The front door is opened to the angle of 120°, while side and back sides, according to requests, are made as fix covers, covers with a lock or combinations of fix covers and rotating door for access to the equipment from the back. The lock on the front door is twisting with three fix points.

Vertical and horizontal perforated supporters made of steel pickled sheet of ?= (2 – 3) mm are used for deposition of equipment inside the cabinets. Cabinet panels have their own stands, which compose a functionally connected order. A number of panels in an order is dictated by conditions of transport and mounting on a building, as well as by weight and dimensions of installed equipment.

A degree of mechanical protection depending on conditions and place of mounting is IP20 to IP55. A high degree of IP protection is reached by automated (robot) technology for pouring polyurethane gasket on door and cabinet covers. Anticorrosion protection is made by electrostatic plasticization, in RAL 7032/7035 color, as a standard, or in a nuance according to the Client’s request.

Cabinet dimensions are standardized, but may differ depending on conditions on the place of installation. Standard dimensions for cabinets are within the following values:

LV switchgear production is based on modular system, so that a huge range of various possibilities of panel configuration is offered. Freestanding and on-wall distribution cabinets in IP30 - IP54 protection are completed with PVC isolation panels, whose application completely prevented possible contact of elements under voltage.

Distribution switchgear produced and assembled according to typified configurations have a status of type attested cabinets. Control of coordination with type configurations is made by Striebel & John and approves issuance of typified attest for assembled cabinet by verified scheme.

High level of technical quality of LV switchgear is verified by typical examinations of main distributive switchgears for currents of up to 2000A of MDB type, produced at KONČAR Institute, accredited by: EA European co-operation for Accreditation.
